Judokas close to Athens

As Nigerian judokas continue their search for Olympic qualification, the search took the players to Abidjan and the Cote’divoire leg of the Olympic qualifiers ended at the weekend.

Nigeria placed second behind the host country, Ivory Coast.

Nigeria won six gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

Nigeria’s gold medallists are-Esther Agbo, Ake Ada Marian, Ewa Catherine, Ade Funmilola, Amos Iliya and Emeka Onyekachi.

The next round of qualifiers will take the Nigerian judo team to Tunisia.

According to secretary of the Judo federation of Nigeria (JFN), Gloria Ekwempu the Tunisia show will hold in May.

The country had already taken part in the first qualifiers in Mauritius where they also excelled.
