Titus Idoko out for the rest of season

The 2004 Globacom premier league recorded its first major casualty last weekend with Julius Berger football club forward, Titus Idoko picking up a serious leg injury.

The Makurdi born striker who was forced to make a premature exit from the Gombe United and Julius Berger week 10 encounter in Gombe, suffered a fractured leg in the second half of the match which ended 1-1 apiece and had to be rushed to the federal medical centre in Gombe where a Plaster of Paris (POP) was quickly administered on the badly broken leg.

The former Plateau United player who was been considered to be taken to the Jos university teaching hospital for further treatment, had to be flown to Lagos when the pains became increasingly unbearable and it was at the Julius Berger clinic that the injury was confirmed to be a severe one which would take a minimum of four months to heal automatically rule the striker may out of competitive action for the rest of the season.

The match proper which was Julius Berger’s first away draw this season saw Salisu Abubakar putting the home team ahead in the 42nd minute while Kabiru Alausa equalised for the bridge boys in the second half to end proceedings at 1-1 in a match reported to have been well handled by referee Obikwelu from Anambra state.

Meanwhile, the management of Julius Berger football club has so far failed to make public the names of the six players hammered by the club for poor performance this season but latest reports indicates that the affected players have all received their sign on fees alongside other members of the team, an indication that the club management may be reconsidering its earlier stand to send the affected players packing as investigations by Nigeriasports.com revealed that the players are back in training although they did not make the trip to the away match against Mighty Jets in Jos.
