NPA records first win

Team Manager Mike Idoko can now heave a sigh of relief following NPA's narrow victory over visiting Kano Pillars in Wednesday's Week 8 Globacom Premier League game played at the National Stadium in Lagos.

Once again a sparsely populated gallery watched a lacklustre match that saw the Seasiders beat the Pillars 1-0,to record their first victory.home and away, since the beginning of the season. The first stanza of the game failed to produce any goal with the visitors from Kano appearing more business -like.They however could not transform their robust play into goal. Both teams resumed after the interval to lift the game a little. But it was not until 10 minutes from full time that NPA made the difference, courtesy of a penalty kick awarded by the centre referee. Forward Bright Edigbana made no mistake from the penalty spot neatly tucking in the ball to sent a huge army of the NPA supporters into a deep frenzy. A visibly excited Idoko told nigeriasports.com that the victory came as a relief to the hitherto winless club who presently are second to the bottom-one point above Julius Berger who have five games in hand-on the league standings. I am glad we finally broke the jinx, says Idoko, this victory might turn out the tonic that my team needed to go full blast and launch our challenge for the tiltle. That had always been our ambition Reports Dipo
