Players of Plateau United Football Club of Jos started the 2004 Globacom Premier League with a massive cash boost from Sponsors of the club, the Plateau State Government.
First, N10 million naira was released to the team as take off Grant and all outstanding salaries and sign on fees from last season were paid.
According to the Vice Chairman of the Club, Chris Giwa, the players received 25% of their last seasons sign on fees and 25% of this seasons.
The players are being owed sign on fees for the last two seasons.
Plateau United signed on 36 players for 2004, 17 of which were retained from last season’s team.
The club however lost inspirational skipper, Jubrin Aminu who has pitched tents with 1st division sharks of Port Harcourt.
