Eight Nigeria men basketball clubs will take to the floor in a bid to out dunk one another for the Nigeria premier league title for the out-going season at the indoor of the Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU), Zaria.
According to the premier league director, Muktar Khaleh who is also the President of FIBA Africa Zone-3 told The Hoops International that the federation settles for the ABU gymnasium due to lack of funding for the playoffs.
The former Nigeria international pleaded with the eight clubs to see the choice of the venue as the federation contribution towards staging a befitting final.
The eight teams four from each of the Atlantic and Savannah Conference of the premier league are battle ready for the final showdown.
From the Atlantic conference comes star-studded Union Bank basketball club of Lagos, Ebun Comets basketball club of Lagos, Dodan Warriors basketball club of Lagos and Islanders basketball club.
From the Savannah conference comes Kano Pillars basketball club of Kano, Niger Potters basketball club of Minna, Plateau Peaks’ basketball club of Jos and AHIP basketball club of Kano.
Among the eight finalists only AHIP basketball club of Kano could be consider as an outsider to the system of the play-offs as the rest of seven teams are used to the play-offs style to determine who become the champion of the Nigerian league.
Niger Potters basketball club of Minna hold the ace in the pool of the eight teams having conquered all to cart home the star-prize in a recent tournament tagged First Deepwater Discovery Battle for Supremacy where it humbled such teams as Ebun Comets, Kano Pillars and Union Bank basketball clubs to win the half-a-million naira prize money.
The club coached by Nigeria U16 Men national team head coach, Adamu Kuta parades a crop of tested players who can hold their own against any opposition and are currently ranked fifth in Africa.
