NFA now NFF, budgets N6.9billion for 2009

The Nigeria Football Association will henceforth be known and addressed as the Nigeria Football Federation; this was part of the amendments to the Statutes that were unanimously adopted.

This was contained in the communiqué released at the end of the body's Annual General Meeting held in Markuki, Benue State capital Thursday.

The Chairman will henceforth be addressed as the President, just as the Vice Chairmen also changes nomenclature the office is to be known as Vice Presidents.

Equally, the Assembly shall now consist of 109 Members, from the previous 101, with representatives of the other Leagues included.

The Assembly decided that each State Football Association shall have its elective Congress between November and December succeeding the elective Congress of the Federation within the Senior World Cup year.

The Financial Statement for the Year ended was unanimously approved, while the Budget Proposal of N6.9 Billion for the Year 2009 was presented and approved.

The Assembly congratulated the NFF for the excellent run of the Super Eagles in the 2010 World Cup/Nations Cup qualifiers, the qualification of Nigeria’s men’s and women’s teams for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the qualification of the Women’s Teams for all major championships taking place later in the year.

The suspension of Peter Singabele from the NFF was presented on the floor of the General Assembly and it was agreed that the Executive Committee of the NFF in its next meeting should determine the second representative of the south–south zone to replace him, on interim basis, before the next Annual General Assembly.

The General Assembly urged the leadership of the NFF to ensure it leaves no stone unturned in checking any form of corrupt practices in Nigeria football. 

The General Assembly passed a vote of confidence on the NFF under the leadership of Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi.
