Boska Cup: Reason JOFAC FC pulled out

Real fact has emerged as to why the 2007 champion of BOSKA/ Lagos Divisional Football Association; (LDFA) JOFAC FC is not participating in the 2008 edition.

Information reaching obtained showed that poor management and lack of commitment on the part of owner of the clubs is the main reason the club is not defending its title.

Our investigation further revealed that the management of the club was carried away with the success of emerging champion of the first edition and as such abandoned its responsibility of maintaining the success.

“They allowed success to get into their head without planning for the future and this affected them as they lost majority of their players”, the source who pleaded not to be mentioned said.

It was also disclosed that the players were not adequately “appreciated” by the management and this was said to have led to mass exodus by most of the players who wrote the club name in gold in 2007 of the youth tournament.

Effort to reach the coach of the club was in vain as his phone was not going through.

We later spoke with the chairman of LDFA, Dotun Coker who confirmed this but said that “we have to invite the participating clubs to a meeting where we enlightened them on club management when the story of JOFAC FC got to us.

We felt sad but there was nothing we could do but to avoid a repeat, LDFA has to educate the club officials and we are optimistic that such mistake will not repeat itself in future”, Coker said.
