The Nigeria Football Association has invited former Ministers of Sports, former Chairmen of the Association and a number of former Secretaries-General to this years Grand Finale of the Coca-Cola FA Cup competition, taking place in Makurdi, Benue State on Saturday.
Association scribe Bolaji Ojo-Oba said on Tuesday that the NFA is determined to keep the nations football fraternity together and in harmony as;two good heads are always better than one.
There is always the need to keep everyone in the family together in order to let everyone have a feeling of belonging. We respect our predecessors and we will always need their good guidance and support.
Invited for the big event on Saturday are former Sports Ministers Air Vice Marshal Bayo Lawal (rtd), Bala Bawa Kaoje, Colonel Musa Muhammed (rtd), and Alhaji Seidu Sambawa; former NFA Chairmen Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (rtd), Group Captain John Obakpolor (rtd) and Colonel Abdulmumini Aminu (rtd).
One time President of the West African Football Union (WAFU), Chief Jonathan Ogufere, Pa John Ojidoh and former Secretaries ;General Momodu Kadiri and Sani Ahmed Toro are also invited, alongside the Honourable Minister/Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Barrister Abdulrahman Gimba, Nigerias FIFA/CAF Member Dr Amos Adamu and other Directors in the NSC.
Saturdays Grand Finale will see Ocean Boys of Brass take on Gombe United in the 2008 Coca Cola FA Cup Final, at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi, while Nassarawa United FC and former champions Enyimba FC will slug it out in the Third Place game, which starts earlier.
Last Sunday, Ocean Boys edged Enyimba 3-2 on penalties at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri in the second semi final, after Gombe defeated Nassawara in the first game. Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has assured that every arrangement has been made to ensure a hitch –free Coca –Cola FA Cup Grand Finale.
