A new executive secretary has been named for Rangers International FC of Enugu, a top official of the club told the News Agency of Nigeria.
The executive secretary is Paul Chibuzo, a former member of the defunct Vasco Dagama FC of Enugu, Foster Chime, the Public Relations Officer of the club said today in Enugu.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the immediate task of the executive secretary would be to raise the morale of players.
This, Foster said, the secretary would accomplish by seeking funds from Enugu government to defray salaries and sign on fees of the players.
He would also be expected to initiate the restructuring of the club so as to inject a new spirit in the team.
It was also learnt that the club would retain the technical crew and bulk of the players whom, in spite of the dwindling finances kept faith with the club.
The plan to retain the crew was because they performed relatively well as they ended up among the top ten in the immediate past premier league season.
Gov. Sullivan Chime of Enugu pledged during a recent stakeholders meeting to provide the funds for liquidating all outstanding debts to players and team officials.
The governor demanded in return that they make a firm commitment with him to win a continental ticket by the next season.
A correspondent of the NAN who visited the Rangers camp reports that many players who deserted the camp started returning in the hope of receiving their salaries.
Those who had remained behind had been living from hand to mouth.
Christian Chukwu, (MFR) a former Super Eagles coach, told NAN that they were eagerly awaiting for members of the board of the club to be appointed.
