Manchester United Football club and England star defender, Rio Ferdinand will Sunday flag-off the 2008 MTN Lagos Street Soccer Champions.
Ferdinand a double champion this year having won the English Premiership and the European Champions League arrive the Nigeria commercial city, Lagos Friday morning on the invitation of the Lagos State Government.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Sports and Social Development, Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele told journalists that the Manchester United defender would train about 12 kids Saturday at the Astro Turf on Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi as part of his activities in Lagos.
The England star will later play a 5-A-Side exhibition football match against some selected team tagged Team-Fashola at the popular Teslim Balogun Stadium on Sunday afternoon before taking the kick-off of the 2008 MTN Lagos Street Soccer Champions and the much awaited Lagos Junior League.
The Lagos Junior League according to the commissioner will be strictly for kids between age 14 and 18 in order to encourage competitive league at the grassroots.
