Africa foremost telecommunications company, Mobile Telecommunications Network, MTN has doles out a whopping N150, 000,000 on the 2008 edition of the Lagos Street Soccer Champions.
The sponsorship package was unveiled at well attended media briefing held at planet-one, Ikeja last Thursday.
The unveiling ceremony which was chaired by the Lagos State Commissioner for Sports and Social Development, Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele has in attendance top dignitaries from the Lagos State government and MTN.
The commissioner told journalists that the organizing committee is targeting about 100, 000 teams from all nooks and crannies of the state.
Adeniji-Adele further said that winner of the month long competition will go home with the sum of N2, 000, 000 and a tour of Brazil first runner-up gets N1, 000,000 and a tour of South Africa while the third placed team gets the sum of N750, 000 and a tour of Ghana for their efforts.
All the players that would take part in the MTN Lagos Street Soccer Champions will be fully insured by the state owned Insurance firm, LASACO.
