The Appeals Committee of the NFA has ordered a replay of the Glo Premier league game between Kwara United and Niger Tornadoes and also the pro-league match between OUK and Delta Force.
Arising from its meeting of May 8, in Abuja, the committee quashed the fine of N500,000 earlier placed on Delta Force and suspended the Match Commissioner of the encounter against OUK, Segun Oguntade, for a full year.
The comprehensive list of appeals treated and the decisions arrived at by the committee are as follows:
(1) The pending case between OUK Football Club of Abia State and Delta Force was ordered to be replayed in an empty Stadium, while the N500,000 fine placed on Delta Force was quashed.
(2) The Match Commissioner of that game, Segun Oguntade has also been placed on suspension for One Year.
(3) In the case involving Sunshine Stars of Akure and Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, the Committee decided that the result should stand because the procedure and processes followed in ascertaining eligibility was not in line with Article 5.7(4).
(4) Similarly, in the case between Nassarawa United FC and Kano Pillars, the result of the match was upheld because of the technical deficiency in the procedure and processes adopted in the protest, which was not in line with Article 5.7(4) on eligibility.
(5) The decision of the Organizing and Disciplinary Committee in the match between Lobi Stars FC and Sunshine Stars was upheld. This also was as a result of the flawed procedure adopted by the appellant in trying to prove a case of ineligibility.
(6) The Committee ordered that the match between Babanawa FC and Mighty Jets be replayed.
(7) In the same vein, the match between Gombe United FC and Jigawa Golden Stars will be replayed in an empty Stadium under lock and key.
(8) The Committee observed that the match was inconclusive as a result of the uncompromising attitude of the two teams.
(9) However, the fine of N500,000 imposed on Jigawa Golden Stars was quashed, since it was established that the club did not discontinue the match as alleged by the Organizing and Disciplinary Committee.
(10) In the case between Kwara United FC and Niger Tornadoes, the Committee established that throwing of missiles by the fans of both teams led to the encroachment of the field, as rightly indicated by the decision of the Organizing and Disciplinary Committee, the Committee ordered that the match be replayed at the Ilorin Township Stadium.
(11) Lastly, the Committee ordered that the match between Gabros International FC and FC Ebedei be replayed on a neutral ground in Osogbo.
Meanwhile, a four–man fact–finding team has been constituted to determine the extent of involvement of people alleged to have beaten up the Centre Referee of the earlier match.
