Help At Last For Akusobi, Okoro

After several years of pain, agony and fears of a possible sad career end, two Nigeria's top female players,Blessing Akusobi and Vera Okolo, hitherto kept out by injury, may be back on their feet soon.

THanks to the the Nigeria Football Association which has now paid the amount of money demanded by a German hospital for the treatment of Falcons duo.

Both ladies have ankle problems and expected to have flown out for their treatment before now but logjams in the form of Invitation Letters to the German Embassy and other knotty issues slowed down the trip.

Akusobi was injured at the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup finals in Russia while Okolo was injured when featuring in a 2008 Olympic Games qualifier against Ghana in Accra last year.

The name of the hospital where the girls will be treated is Vivantes International Medicine, based in Berlin.

Okolo, who was born on January 5, 1985 and Akusobi, who was born on August 17, 1986 are expected to fly out of the country on April 10, as their Letters of Invitation have already arrived and they will appear in the German Embassy early next week.

Already, Vivantes International Medicine has slated the two girls to be treated between April 13 – May 4 – a period of three weeks.
