Okweugba Tips Falcons

FIFA –badged Referee Felicia Okwugba is confident the Super Falcons will overcome their Ghanaian counterparts when both teams slug it out at the National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday.

Okwugba was center referee when Ghana’s Black Queens trounced the Mama Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire 3-0 in Accra at the weekend to earn a place at the 6th African Women Championship coming up later in the year.

“The Black Queens are not fantastic. The Ivorian girls tormented them and only failed to score, but the Ghanaians somehow found their way to putting the ball in the net. It is not as if the Ghanaians are too good.

“I know our girls and I know what they can do. I believe we will beat the Ghanaians”, she contended.

The Super Falcons must win on Saturday to earn a third successive appearance at the Olympics, after a team including current goalkeeper trainer Ann Chiejine debuted at the 2000 Olympics in Australia and Mercy Akide led the forward –line at the Athens Games four years ago.
