“The influx of foreign-base players also contributed to the high standard now witness in women basketball in Africa, countries like Senegal, Nigeria, Mozambique, Mali, Angola and DR Congo are a good example of teams with quality players who are in either a foreign club in Europe or Colleges in the United States of America.

“Our primary goal is to win the championship and represent Africa once again at the Olympics but we respect other countries in this championship teams like Nigeria, Mali and even Angola are a team to watch out for, but one thing we have going for us that we have home support and our players knows what is at stake.

“Our last group game against Mali on Wednesday will probably be our toughest challenge at the preliminary stage but we are confident that we will take them to the cleaner and move on as the group leader.
