Milan Set For Emerson Talks

Italian giant and UEFA Champions league defending champion, AC Milan are pressing ahead with talks to sign Emerson from Real Madrid after it was made clear that the Brazilian does not figure in Bernd Schuster's plans.

The Italian outfit are trying to convince Madrid to allow them to take the 31-year-old on loan with a view to a permanent move at the end of the season.

While los Merengues are keen to off-load the former Roma and Juve midfielder, they would rather he left on a permanent basis this summer.

Emerson has been linked with a return to Juve, as well as interesting Inter, but his agent has already met with Milan and the Rossoneri are not favourites to land him.

Milan spoke to the player's representative, Gilmar Veloz, when he was finalising a deal to bring another his clients, Alexandre Pato, to the San Siro.

Early signs are that the European champions want to pay €2m to take Emerson on loan for one year and then pay out around €6m to make the move permanent next summer.

Madrid though have stated that they want him to leave now and have stated that any interested parties will have to meet their €11m evaluation.
