The 2007 Nigerian Schools of Nursing and Midwifery Games (NISONM) has been slated to take place at the South West Zonal Headquarters of the National Sports Commission, Liberty Stadium, Ibadan between 13th and 17th of August 2007.
The Games, which have been moribund for some years, is being set to see the light of the day as South West Zone of the NSC as plans is at advance stage to stage a beffiting Games with the sole aim of discovering new talents that could be developed and nurtured to stardom.
As a major step towards the realization of this resuscitation efforts, the Nigeria Schools of Nursing and Midwifery within the Zone have been holding meetings with the Zonal Headquarters to look into the possibility of reviving the Games.
Speaking with newsmen Tuesday, at his Liberty Stadium, Ibadan office, the Zonal Coordinator of the South West Zone Peter Nelson, said, a lot of work has already been done in revitalizing the NISONM Games within the South West.
The former Nigeria Internationalbasketball player explained that the Games would include: Football ( Male & Female), Basketball ( Male & Female) Table –Tennis ( Male & Female Singles & Doubles) and Track and Field events.
According to Nelson, the next meeting of the zone with representatives of the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery will hold Thursday, at the University College Hospital , UCH, Ibadan where finishing touches are expected to be put to necessary arrangements concerning the Games.
States preliminaries, which held earlier in each of the states of the zone, have produced the schools that would represent each state at the finals.
