Abinu On Revenge Mission Against Amadin

It will be a repeat of the 2005 edition as Fatimo Abinu will be hoping to avenge her loss to Osaro Amadin in the ladies' singles of this year's final of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Open Tennis Championship.

Abinu, who is still be haunted by the loss was quick to declare after edging out Omotayo Ibrahim in the semi-final that it would be a different ball game as
she is ready to revenge.

"I cannot afford not to lift the cup this year after losing in the 2005 final to Osaro Amadin, I think I am ready to avenge and I believe with God on my side I will raise the cup for the first time," she said.

Abinu, who was semi-finalist in last year's edition showed her superiority against ageing Ibrahim when she thrashed her 6-0, 7-5 to set up a revenge final against Benin City based Amadin.

Amadin, who is using the tournament to return to form advanced  to the final after beating indisposed Hannah Eke 6-4, 6-1. Eke, who had earlier vowed to make it to the final blamed her loss to Amadin on fatigue. "I think I lost because I was tired after playing non-stop for three hours against Ronke Akingbade in the quarter-final on Thursday. I could not believe I could even play the game but I tried my best and it was not good enough. I wish her luck in the final."

Eke however, described this year's championship has been tough saying most of the players that took part in the competition really gave a good account of themselves.

For national Coach, Rotimi Akinloye, this year's championship should be applauded for it organisation while the players also exhibited discipline throughout the tournament.
