The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been adviced to look beyond the African Women Championship as they prepare for the world Cup coming up in China next year following their qaulification as they spanked Cameroon 5-0 in the semi final of the 5th AWC.
Speaking to nigeriasports.com, in Warri, the only female member of the nigeria Football Association, Princess Bola Jegede said the team have shown class in female football in Africa and are beeing looked upon as the only team in Africa to redeem the image of Africa in world female football.
"I want them to look beyond what they see here, that is the African Women Championship. They have shown that they are bigger. I want them to go out there during the World Cup and do Nigeria and Africa proud'.
She also charged the defending champions to go all out and win the championship to make history.
Princess Bola Jegede said the Falcons need not underate their opponents as the pride of the country is also at stake.
She said that the world cup ticket is not the only thing that is improtant in this championship adding that retaining the trophy and making Nigeria proud is equaly important.
"It is good that they have qaulified for the world cup, that is not enough at this stage. They need to win the cup again and make nigerians proud. Our match against Ghana is usually tough and I don't want them to take chances or underate them. For Ghana to outdo South Africa another very strong team in this competition shows that they are eqaully strong"
Also speaking, another NFA member, Taiwo Ogunjobi said that the Falcons will be properly rewarded if they win the cup for the record fifth time.
He said that following the presence of new NFA board, the girls if they win the cup again will not be subjected to any form of disappointment.
He told them not to relax because they have qaulified for the world cup as the pride of the nation is at stake and that Nigerians are looking up to them to exibit that triats of Champions with which they are known.
