Enyimba, Heartland return to Africa

Nigeria's two remaining survivors in African club competitions return to action this week in both the CAF champions League and Confederation cup.

For Enyimba, this will be their first time in Accra in their five years of playing in Africa as they are guests to Accra Hearts of Oak.

Though Enyimba are favoured to advance from the group, they must be wary of the likes of Orlando Pirates of South Africa and Asec Mimosas, all previous winners of the trophy.

But the Enyimba coaches must have their eyes on the duo of Yaw Amankwa Mireku and Joseph Tagoe, both tested players with proven International pedigree.

Enyimba left Nigeria on friday morning with an eighty man strong delegation of players, officials, fans and journalists and are upbeat about getting a result in Accra.

Club chairman, Felix anyansi Agwu told nigeriasports.com that though it may be a difficult task, Enyimba will surmount the odds.

"I am really confident we will win or at least not lose so Nigerian should just stand by us and see what happens."

Heartland FC of Owerri will also be busy in Africa this weekend against Malabo side, Renacimiento.

Coach Ufere NWankwo told nigeriasports.com before the side's departure that Heartland is a team of destiny and as such would make the group stages of the Confederation cup.

''Heartland is a team of destiny and though we do not know much about the opposition we would not fall at this stage."
