Bayelsa, Imo Schools for Milo finals

Boys of Community Secondary School, Kolo, Bayelsa State have dunked their way to the grand finale of the Nestle Milo Secondary Schools' Basketball Championship when they defeated the hard-fighting boys of Government Secondary School, Akim, Cross River State 20-19 during the Equatorial Conference final held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

In the girls category, Ikenegbu Girls Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State confirmed their superiority over the girls of Marist Comprehensive Academy, Uturu, Abia State with a 20-6 points in a one sided encounter for a spot in the national final which comes up in Lagos later in the year.

The Imo girls who began it campaign on a promising note by tieing 15-15 with conference favourites Jephthah Comprehensive Secondary School, Port Harcourt in their first game showed strong determination that it is prepared to fight for the national title when hostilities commenced in Lagos.

It would be recalled that the conference champions in both the boys and girls categories have emerged in the Sahara, Savannah and Central Conferences while the Atlantic and Western conferences will soon produce their conference representatives as the finals are played on June 25 and July 2 respectively.

This will make a total of 12 teams, 6 male and 6 female that will participate in the grand finale in Lagos.

According to the organisers of the championship, dunking action in the grand finale will begin in October at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
