Inter Milan FC of Italy star, Obafemi Martins has thrown his weight behind the Black Stars of Ghana in the country’s bid to scale into the second round of the on-going World Cup in Germany, reported Bassey Koma.
“I think Ghana would go far if they keep on playing the way they do”, the prolific goal poacher told nigeriasports.com. “They have the quality to make Africa proud at the World Cup. So also does Cote D’ iviore”, he added.
The Black Stars stormed their way back into reckoning last Saturday with a 2-0 spanking of Czech Republic. Goals from Asamoah Gyan after 70 seconds and Sulley Muntairu seven minutes from time ensured the Ghanaians breathed new life after the opening day error-stricken 2-0 loss to the Azzuris of Italy.
A repeat of such bravado against the USA on Thursday by the four-time African kings, could see them famously garnering a last 16 appearance on its World Cup debut.
The Ghanaians, twice winners of FIFA Under-17 Tournament, however have a worry as hot shot, Gyan would miss the last tie having been issued a yellow card for hastily taking the 65th minute penalty kick without Argentine referee,k Horacio Elizondo’s permission, which he eventually lost
