Plans to unseat Galadima underway

If rumours filtering into our Lagos offices are anything to cling on to, then Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima's acceptance as the NFA executive chairman and his subsequent return to the Abuja Glass House, could as well go for an exercise to temporarily relax strained nerves in the country's football circle.

Our impeccable Abuja sources, informed us that Galadima should not be toasting and clinking glasses yet, since "there seems a hidden agenda to bring him in as the winner of the December 2005 Kano elections and FIFA's approved bona-fide leader of the nation's football administration and later oust him legitimately."

We were also informed that, secret merchinaries have already been put in place to see to the logical and legitimate removal of Galadima and "the right time for that, would be during the next Congress meeting fixed for next month or July.

"You can see the hand writings on the wall already, with the exclusion of football from the sports fund raising exercise in Abuja.  They are indirectly asking the Galadima-chaired NFA to go and seek for funds since they insist on autonomy for football,"our sources disclosed under anonymity.

The Sports Ministry had to mend fences with the Galadima-led board after a protracted disagreement over the last Kano elections.  This some soccer lovers believe, would not have been possible if, the Federal Government had not given both warring parties an ultimatum, on the one hand and FIFA dangling a sledge hammer threateningly over the nation, on the other.
