Ex Eagles advises Galadima to quit

The newly elected chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Alhaji Waidi Akanni, has urged the embattled chaiurman of the Nigeria Foitball Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, to resign his appointment in the interest of the game and for peace to reign.

Akanni after his inauguration as Lagos FA boss told Nigeria Sports.com that Galadima should throw in the towel to avoid the World Football Governing body, FIFA's axe over the lingering crisis between him and the Sports Minister, Dr. Seidu Sambawa over the NFA seat. FIFA had on Monday warned Nigeria to resolve the tussle or get sanctioned on the eve of the World Cup finals when it would be discussing many football issues at the congress. Galadima was reelected in his home town Kano last December but the Nigeria Sports authorities have refused to give him any recognition since then. But Akanni said if the government still refused to accord Galadima the respect he should galantly bow out for the future of Nigerian football. "I think both parties should sink their differences before the FIFA congress in Geremany next month. If the Sports Ministry refuses to shift ground I think Galadima should do so in the interest of our football," he explained. He explained that if FIFA bans Nigeria it would take our football to another ten years back adding that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) too may axe Nigeria Clubsides from participating in continental cahmpionship and this may spell disaster. On his goals and objectives for Lagos State Football, the former Flying Eagles star said he was going to do everything humanly possible to bring back the lost glory. Not only that he explained that plans were in the pipeline to ensure that Stationery Stores Football Club, the darling team of Lagosians is revived and made to contest with arch rival like Shooting Stars and Rangers Football Club. "I am here to reposition the game of football in the state from the grass roots level to the top. With the mandate given to me by the Chief executive of the state, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, I will definitely change the face of football in Lagos," he said
