The 2006 Nigeria Bigman camp for kids between ages 15 and 19 and 6 foot, 8 inches and above ended last weekend in Lagos, Nigeria with one of the coach that participated in the week long event, Michael Akuboh of the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria scoring the camp full hundred percent.
Coach Akuboh lauded the organisers of the week long event which saw the selected kids being taken through the rigour of the act of shooting and other basics rudiment of the game in the area of organisation and the number of selected coaches from within and beyond who acted as instructors.
On his part he said he has learnt one or two new tricks on how to handle post players often refered to as bigmen in the game of basketball.
He, however, call for patience on the part of various clubs and highers institutions coaches to be patient with their players and encouraged them to mature with the game.
He said there is no hidding the fact that the game looks upward in Nigeria and that clubs and the nation stand to benefit from the camp which is the brainchild of RadaarHoops owned by the duo of Masai Ujiri of the Denver Nuggets and Godwin Owinje.
Like Oliver twist, coach Akuboh call on Ujiri and his colleagues and other former Nigeria international to come home and organise more camps for the benefit of the players, coaches and the nation.
