Pro fooballers' body to rescue aggrieved players

To ensure that, footballers in the Nigerian Globacom-sponsored Premier League do not skip dotting their 'Is' and crossing their 'Ts' properly, the Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria (APFON) has adviced all players in both the Premier and Pro league with pending issues, whicxh bother on their welfare, contractual rights and obligations,to be assured of fair play.

However, to guaranttee this according to Austin Popo, who is the Secretary General of the body, players should forward such grieviances to their newly acquired base in Lagos - 24, Mbolu Ojike Crescent, Off Ayinde Giwa Street, Surulere.  Popo also told nigeriasports.com that, such could as well be sent through the E - Mail: austin_apfon@yahoo.com

"This development is to enable APFON collate and send such information to the COMMITTEE OF PLAYERS STATUS, ARBITRATION AND WELFARE COMMITTEE of the Nigeria Football League (NFL); for speeding hearings."  "This," he explained further, "would forestall ennecessary delays of players' clearance in discharging their contractual obligations to their clubs."

In conclusion, Popo warned that, only players who are duly registered with APFON, would be attended to, when such problems as stated above arise.  To this end he stated that, APFON Registration Forms are obtainable from various State's Football Association offices across the nation from the first week of May 2006.
