As expected the Chief coach of the national U-23 side, the Dream Team III, Musa Abdulahi has been sacked and replaced by Kadiri Ikhana, the man who led Enyimba football club of Aba to the Caf champions league success few weeks back.
The move came after the Olympic champions from 1996 lost 4-3 in Senegal in a qualifying match for Athens 2004.
The warning signs had been there for Coach Musa Abdulahi, especially after the lack luster 1-1 draw against Tunisia in Bauchi a couple of weeks ago.
Going into the match against the Senegalese Lions, Nigeria’s sports Minister, Musa Mohammed, gave a tall order to Coach Musa to win or be shown the way out.
His replacement, Kadiri Ikhana was in the team to Senegal as an Observer, and his appointment as new chief coach will be ratified at the NFA’s Annual General Meeting billed for the 8th -10th of January in Owerri.
