Edo Gov saves Brown from coaches' wrath

For the confidence the Edo State Governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion has in Brown Ebewele, he would have lost his job of the Director of Sports of the State barely a few days to the commencement of the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta.

According to reports reaching our offices here in Lagos, coaches of the State, had ganged-up and taken their protest against Brown, (aka Juju man), to the State Governor.  They were agitating for the removal of the Director on grounds of his high-handedness.

The coaches, nigeriasports.com was informed, wanted the Governor to stop Brown from taking them to the 2006 National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

"But the Governor turned them back; telling them that he has great confidence in Brown Ebewele, who had not only returned the State from a glowing victory of the Nigerian 'Olympic Games' which was hosted by Edo in year 2002 has succeeded in writing the name of the State in gold in the nation's anals of sports," our impeccable source told us.

Besides, we were further informed," Governor Igbinedion told the protesting coaches that, sacking Brown was not the problem, but promising him (the Governor), that, they would win the Gateway Games in Abeokuta...and there was no positive answer from the warring coaches.

It would be recalled also that, the State came second to Delta State at the 2004 edition of the Nigerian sportfest held in the country's Abuja capital.  Edo and Delta States are the two teams to be beaten at the 2006 Games, which is expected to flag-off in the Ogun State capital, Abeokuta.
