OGUN dare DELTA, EDO for laurels

Athletes preparing for actions at the forthcoming 15th National Sport Festival, “Gateway Games 2006” especially athletes from Edo and Delta States have been promised a tough challenge by the Ogun State contingents.

The state governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniedisclosed <o:p></o:p>

that the Ogun team athletes had promised to dethrone Delta and as well give <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">Edo</st1:place> state a good run for their money in the quest to win medals.

Otunba Daniel said he was confident that with the level of preparedness of Team Ogun evident from intensive camping and training, great determination and courage, proper training material and enabling environment, Ogun State contingent will be a force to reckon with at the Game.

In addition, the motivation and supports from the government, private sector and the good people of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Ogun</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">State</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>, the State contingents will surpass their previous records.

Governor Daniel concluded that <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Ogun</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">State</st1:PlaceType> took a cue from the <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Old</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Bendel</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">State</st1:PlaceType> by creating Ijebu-Ode Games village, a properly equipped training centre to train burden talent just as it was done at the old Afuze camp near <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Benin City.</st1:City></st1:place>
