The Abuja camp of the National female Under-20 team, the Falconets has been closed on the orders of the Federal Ministry.of Sports Dr Amos Adamu who is on his way back from the CommonWealth games in Melbourne, Australia, directed that the camp be closed, as it was opened without any official directive.
The closure we gathered was informed by the disapproval that trailed the unilateral decision of the Acting Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association, Fanny Amun, to open another camp for the team after the Ministry of Sports and Social Development ordered that a camp be opened for the team in Ijebu-Ode.
A dependable informed us “The camp in Abuja has been closed on the orders of the Director of Sports of the ministry, the decamped players in the Abuja team had started making frantic efforts to relocate to Ijebu-Ode to team up with their colleagues". However, sources in the ancient city said the decision to absorb the decamped players into their fold in Ijebu-Ode could only be facilitated by a directive of the sports ministry.
It wil be recalled that the Acting Sec.Gen of the NFA Mr Fanny Amu, had penultimate week in a press conference in Lagos, threatened legal action against Alhaja Omidiran for allegedly running an illegal camp in Ijebu Ode. But Omidiran had insited she has the blessing of the sports ministry.
