Keshi - One step too far from Germany

One of Africa's first comers to the FIFA 2006 World Cup Finals, Togolese national football team, the Hawks' coach under whom the West African nation nicked the ticket, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, may still be in that country, but as it were, to complete his contract with the FA and not to continue as their coach or think of having his contract extended.

According to nigeriasports.com sources from that country, "Keshi may end up not being re-considered for the job as had been widely speculated."  "This because," our source informed, "of news that Togo's new found love with German Otto Pfister, seems to be growing by the day and it could have been secretly solemnized.

"Already, we in Togo heard that Pfister is planning to move the Hawks to northern Germany, where he has arranged a campsite for the team to stay preparatory to the World Cup.

"We can also tell you that, from what we suspect, the new coach, who could not come to Togo because of fans protests and non-acceptance by most of the players of Hawks, is planning to have a series of friendlies with German clubsides to shape-up the team."

The Togolese FA offcials had fallen apart with the Nigerian born coach soon after the EGYPT 2006 Africa Nations Cup, where the Hawks could not win a match and thus, were booted out in the preliminary rounds of the continental soccer feast.

However, the fans and most key players of the team, did not see that as enough reason to kick-out the man, under whom they got their first ever ticket to appear at a FIFA World Cup Finals.

If these are no rumours, then Keshi may as well start picking-up his kits, baggage and hop on the next flight for a flight from Togo.  And for his unrepentant ball disciples and Hawks' pro-Keshi loyal players, it would be as it is said in Mexico: "Adios Amingo Stephano."
