Togo's new coach scared-away

Togolese national team, THE HAWKS that had been engulfed in a series of hiccup fits recently, do not seem to have found a cure for now... no thanks to the refusal of their new coach to report for business a week after the contract stated.

Reports reaching nigeriasports.com from our sub-regional offices, have it that, most of the key players of the national team, have signified their unwillingness and readiness to go to the World Cup in Germany, without the coach, who nicked them the ticket, Steve Keshi.

Following public out-cry and protests from soccer followers of the tiny West African nation, that Keshi should be left to finish the job, which he started and reap the fruits of his labour, whether bit or sweet, the German-born Otto Pfister, whose African coaching chart has no enviable record, has refused to report for duty.

Our reports have it also, that the "man was expected to report for duties last week but till now, he has not done so.  Some of the key protesting player notable amongst whom is the French-based goal tender, argue that, the coach with the calibre of Pfister, can not take them to the promised land in Germany.

Besides, they are also saying that, with just four months left to the World Cup, only Coach Steve Keshi, the man who had been with the team from its teething periods and who tended their infant feet during the qualifiers could have and make any impact on the team.

"Who says we cannot make or Keshi cannot come up with something better than the German?  With such countries as; France, Switzerland and Korea in our Group G, only Keshi and not Pfister can do something tangible for Togo at the Mundial,"some of the ball fans argued.
