Peru-based Nigerian home to roost

When about five years back totty Winnner Okorie was taken out of the country, little did he know then that he would become a soccer toast in no distant future.

Today, after being tutored in a Belgian Soccer Academy and playing for Cercle Brugge in the same nation, Winner felt it was time to move away again to something new...so up to Peru, he set sail and having played for Deportivo Municipal, he felt once again that, it was time for him to come back home to give to his father's land, the few tricks he had learnt from abroad.

So, when he bumped into nigeriasports.com office in Lagos over the weekend, it was promise galore.

"Sir, I am home to give to my country what I have succeeded in learning abroad. "I am fit and very young and sure I can fit into the home setting,"Winner promised.

But the youthful attacking mid-fielder, whose knack for goals has made him a toast in Peru, has some conditions under which he can feature for any Nigerian side.

"I want play in Nigeria. But I want a team with a continental ticket because I am sure that, that is the only way my talent and skills could be appreciated," he stated.

Fore-armed with Nigerian teams that are expected to feature in continental engagements and challeges this season, Winners Okorie counted on his fingers:

"I know that such teams as Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Rangers International of Enugu, Enyimba of Aba are all featuring in various African tournaments. "And these are the teams for which, I would want to play because these are, as I had earlier stated, the only teams that can bring out the stuffs in me,"Okorie recalled again.
