Following last week’s endorsement of kickboxing by Sports Ministry as a scoring event at the forthcoming National Sports Festival the Nigerian kickboxing Federation, NKBF has rolled out table of various weight categories to be vied for.
In a table exclusively made available to nigeriasports.com by the President of the body, Sensei Victor E. Bassey, the athletes would compete for honours in 10 different weight categories.
The categories he said would range from the batam weight to the super heavyweight.
The President further informed our correspondent that a total of 102 medals shall be up for grabs among winners.
He explained that in all, 34 gold, 34 silver and 34 bronze have been packaged bringing the grand total of kickboxing medals to be won in the game which is according to international standard to 102 medals.
He added that with the nod the federation would quickly swing into action in order to ensure a hitch free fiesta.

As the build up to forth coming National sports festival heightens, an attempt to add glamour to the coming edition of Gateway Games has been hatched by Nigerian Kickboxing Federation, NKBF.
Speaking to nigeriasports.com on Tuesday via phone chat, the federation’s big cheese, Sensei Victor Bassey said arrangements are in top gears to receive the President of World Kickboxing Association, WKA, Paul Ingram and to organize a grand reception/inauguration on behalf of their newly endorsed sport in Nigeria.
“When the President of World Kickboxing Association, Paul Ingram comes calling to Nigeria, he would pay a courtesy visit to a number of places of importance which would include the office of Minister of Sports and Social Development, Samaila Saidu Sambawa”, confirms Victor Bassey.
“The significance of the homage call is that Nigeria will be better for it as it would serve as a bumper boost to teeming fans of the pugilists sport in the first place and all stake holders of the nation’s sporting community”, informs Bassey.
“In his itinerary is included a meeting with executives of the federation, NKBF”, he avers.
“ At the last count, the invitation letter has already been dispatched to London and NKBF are waiting for the reply”, reveals the boss.
Meanwhile, in a few days away, precisely on Friday, the games top notchers, referees and coaches would be converging in Abeokuta for pre-games workshop in order to update participants on latest international standards ethics, rules and regulations
