For players of cash strapped FCT Queens of Abuja, monday would be Christmas as they finally got paid twelve months salary arrears owed them.
On the orders of the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir El Rufai, more than eight million naira was released to offset salaries and match bonuses from January up till December 2003.
The girls were dismissed thereafter for the Christmas break and asked to resume in February.
The case with Inneh Queens of Benin is still dire as the girls are still at the clubs camp waiting for their four months backlog of salaries to be paid.
A player with the club told www.nigeriasports.com that the Edo state Governor assured them that they will be paid on the 29th of December so they can go home then.
"What do you want us to do? If we dont stay and go home, we can come back next year and hear there is no money. We will stay and get our money before leaving," the player said.
Pelican Stars of Calabar, paid off their players for the last two months of the year but still made no mention of two years signs on fees pwed the girls.
In Uyo it took the players marching to the house of club chairman, Bonny Nyong and physically assaulting him before he released just one month out of four he owed the girls
