Gateway Games chieftains embrace Leisure centres

Hosts of the 15th National Sports Festival, tagged "GATEWAY GAMES 2006," Ogun State Government have given not only the approval to Arabella 21st Cen tury Promotions rights to setting up the two main Entertainment Centres for the sports feast, but have also given their nod to assisting the project in ensuring that the aims and objectives are achieved.

Briefly charting the chain of the Entertainment Coves at sports arenas, Mr. Femmy Carrena, President of Arabella 21st Century Promotions dug: "Fifa first mutted the idea for such venues meant for relaxation before, during and after the heat of competition by athletes and officials and ofcourse, the excitements and anxiety of competition for spectators.

"It was at the USA '94 World Cup that the light was first lit; followed by the '98 World Cup in France at Champs Ellisse...then ofcourse, we brought the fruits to plant here in Nigeria, during the 1999 Fifa Junior World Cup tagged "NIGERIA 99". Something close to that was also at the Abuja 2003 All Africa Games at the Eagles Square and we are proud to have been part of that history too," Carrena traced the movements of the Games Entertainment Village in Nigerian sports.

He did not stop there - Femmy went further and farther to flip through some of the pages of the catalogue of what to expect at the Gateway Games version of the Entertainment Centres, which will be for the first time, be in two of the centres for the Gjames - Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode. "The Games are expected to flag-off on April 6, 2006, but the two centres will be from the 5th of April and will run a 24-hours chains of activities non stop for the entire duration of the Festival.

"There will be dances, both cultural and western, comedy, foods, drinks, relaxation, screen shows for those who wish to mix both watching proceedings at the Games and leisure and I tell you, we did it during NIGERIA '99 and we are going to do it again...infact, in a bigger way," Femmy pledged.
