Supporters plan big Eagles

When the EGYPT 2006 Nations Cup championship kicks-off on January 20,2006, no fewer than 500 footballer supporters accredited by the Nigerian Football Supporters Club would be on hand to cheer the Super Eagles during the soccer showcase.

Yomi Whesu, Secretary-General of the body made this known to nigeriasports.com in his Lagos office over the weekend. According to Whesu, arrangements have reached a top pitch for the air lift of members of the club to the North African nation. "We are getting real set for the show in Egypt.  Our members are quite enthausiastic about the exercise made so far to ensure their comfort while in Egypt.

"As at the time I am speaking with you, we have enlisted well above 300 supporters and we are sure that, before we depart this country, there would be well over 500 members willing and not just willing, but willing with financial backing...that is paying their ways. Our President-General, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has almost concluded negotiations with an airline that, we intend to charter," the towering bespectacled scribe disclosed.

We gathered further that, this number represents those who would be coming in to pick their flight from the country.  Our investigations show that, members of the club, who are based in Europe, America and Asia, are also being expected to make their own arrangements to joing voices and drum alongside their brothers and sisters from home.
