Nigeria's unrepentant CAF Champions League chasers, Rangers International FC of Enugu and two time- Africa Champions, Enyimba FC of Aba have indicated their readiness to battle their opponents in the forth- coming CAF Competitions billed to kick- off February 19, 2006.
In a chat with nigeriasports.com, Sole Administrator of the Flying Antelope Davison Owumi sounds so optimistic of his team's readiness in battling Police XI of Botswana in their first leg match of the on going CAF Champions League billed for Botswana on the February 18th 200.
According to him, the team that just resumed training today would scout for good young and talented players to beef up the team for the big tie. He maintained that they would not take in chances in making sure they receive every support they need to enable them go far this time round.
"I am happy seeing my club playing again in the Champions League after two to three years now, and for us to achieve our dream this time around, we intend going into the market for good, young, talented and experienced players to beef- up our team because we would not take chances this time.
"I believe this is our year, and we must make sure we receive every support we need to enable us excel. We started training today and we have a lot of players who came in for screening although by the end of the day, we would drop some and only a few would fit into the team for both the local league season and Champions League," he explained.
In the same vein, Enyimba FC Sole Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu expressed confidence in Enyimba winning the cup back to the country this year. He stated that Enyimba FC may not drop any player from the team while they sign-on new ones to further strengthen the team.
"We don't intend dropping anyone. You must agree with me that, we had the best team for the league last season and we intend keeping that squad for our CAF match against Manga Sports of Gabon billed for February 19, in Aba here.
"All we will do, is to bring in new players to beef up the team and also replace those, who have signed contracts with European clubs. I must tell you that, Enyimba will still win the cup back again! That is a promise," Ayansi sounded boastfully.
Meanwhile, there are feelers that, the Aba Peoples Elephants are still looking for a better coach, who would handle the team next season as former chief coach, Okey Emeordi has traveled to South Africa to seal a contract with Bush burn Football Club of South Africa.
