Nigeria rose from its second group-A game lose to Senegal to inflict a 92-23 points bashing of Togo to set up a final group-A duel against Mali next Monday in the ongoing 19th Fiba Africa Women Championship holding in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Mfon Udoka captain side dominated the Togolese from the blast of the referees’ whistle winning 25-05, 25-07, 22-09 and 20-02 thus sending her vociferous supporters into wide jubilation.
Mactaben Amachree led in scoring with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks as the duo of Mary Apiafi and skipper Udoka contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.
With this victory Nigeria is now 2-1 and second to group leader Senegal with Mali occupying the third spot.
In the second group-B also decided the same time the Nigerian ladies dealt a big blow to the Togolese ladies, Mozambique recorded its second win against Gabon with a 55-33 points with Rute Muianga posting a game high 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
On Saturday in group-A Senegal will be up against Cape Verde while Mali will do battle against Togo and in group-B Gabon and Niger will take to the court at 16.30 hours while Angola will engage Congo DRC.
