The Chairman of El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Kwajafa Mohammed has told nigeriasports.com that the failure of his side to get a continental ticket at the end of the 2005 football league season is because they did not enpougn money to motivate their players.
Kwajafa told nigeriasports.com that Elkanemi would surely come out stronger next season and would want to forget what happened in 2005.
“We could have had a better performance, what can you do when the boys do not get enough financial motivation? We can only plan for next season and see how well we do.” KWajafa said.
He however expressed surprise at the inability of either Sharks or Dolphins to have sewn up a continental ticket at this stage of the season, especially with the huge financial muscle provided by Sir Dr. Peter Odili.
“That is the one that surprised me. With the kind of money and support these two clubs were getting, I’m shocked one of them will not be on the continent next year.”
