Recent news of FIFA's elongation of the tenure of the life span of the Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima-headed NFA, is all lies laced with his board members' desire to decieve Nigerians.
The purported letter from the global soccer-ruling body of the game, asking the board to have an extra 20 days after the expiration of their term on November 28, 2005, nigeriasports.com can authoritatively tell you, was "a mere fabrication of Galadima and his board members' stretch of immagination."
According to our investigations, there was no letter whatsoever from FIFA asking Galadima and his board to remain in office a second longer than November 28, 2005.
"As it were, since their term has expired, they have neither moral nor official justifications to attend to any official issue at the NFA Secretariat. But they do not want this; they want to be part of the Nations Cup next January...this informed the claim of a letter from FIFA asking them to stay for another 20 days in office
"The world football body does not have the right to dictate to Nigeria on the issue of electing a new board. And FIFA has not written any letter to Galadima. It's all lies...they are all rumuours originated by the our-going board to keep afloat and relevant for a while," our Abuja source told us.
Disturbed by the rumours, our man in Abuja unearthed further: "We were even in touch with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), President, Issa Hayatou on phone.
He also told us that, there was no such letter from FIFA asking the Galadima-led NFA board to hang on for an extra 20 days. He (Hayatou) told us that, if there was such a development, he, as the continent's football goverining head, would have been notified.
