Uloma Mbuko has continued her domination of ladies national golf championship with her recent feat at the 13th Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) open championship.
Uloma who was the toast of the golfers who participated at the meet posted 150 gross over 36 holes to win the championship held at Benin Golf Club.
She had last week won the ladies open, carded 79 on the first day and 77 on the second day and qualified as one of the country’s representaives for next year’s African female championship holding in Zambia.
Pamela Wu of Ikeja club came second behind Uloma after posting 168 in two days while Debbie Otabor fired 169, a short behind Wu to place third.
Chichi Alamu also of Ikeja club carded 171 to place 4th while former president of the association, Stella Richmond, who came all the way from Ireland placed 5th after carding 175.
For the net category, Mrs. Evie Iyoha came tops with 141 Net score. Emily Aniode fired 147 to win the H/C 29-36 category, while Benin Club vice captain, Abuchi Odili, a five handicapped player surmounted all odds to win the other category with 69 Net score.
Speaking after the championship, the President of the Ladies Golf Association, Mrs. Itohan Osahon Emoedofu, commended the performance of the golfers for putting up a good show and promised to assist in bringing more sponsors to keep the ladies busy.
She also called on their male counterparts to guide them where necessary.
“Where we go wrong, call us and correct us, it should be a collective effort, we cannot do it alone,” she said.
She commended communication giant, MTN, for supporting the association. MTN recently sealed a three deal to sponsor ladies tournament as well as kit the three top golfers to the African championship next year.
