Sympathy forum for Galadima hits Aso Rock

An attempt by the Kaduna State Football Association Chairman, to get his colleagues in the other northern states for a meeting, which our sources coined as "aimed at strategising for the return of Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima as chairman, Nigeria Football Association (NFA),for the second term," could be heading for the rocks.

The imminent collapse of the grand plan nigeriasports.com gathered from our Abuja source, is not far-fetched from the fact that, the government is interested in who eventually becomes the next Head of the country's football house.

"As a result of this government interest development," we gathered further, the invited northern states' Governors are shying away from the Kaduna 'Summit'.

Besides this, some of the Governors just like most Nigerians, are not in the least happy that the country's flag would not be flown when the world's best football nations gather in Germany next year for the World Cup Finals during Galadima's tenure as NFA Chairman."

Explaining more, our source added that, if at the end of the day, the Governors attend the Meeting, most of them would be there just like the proverbial "horse led to the stream, but cannot be forced to drink out of its water."

It would be recalled that Nigeria had consistently ensured a World Cup ticket since she first made it to the USA '94 edition ... the country was at the FRANCE '98 global soccer showcase in France and nicked another ticket to appear at the KOREA/JAPAN World Cup Finals.

But regretably, the team could not make it to the GERMANY 2006 under the NFA that is being chaired by Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima.

According to our survey, some of the blames being heaped on Galadima include; his inability to know the difference, as a national football house head, between FIFA head to head rule and the old highest goal-scoring team in deciding who wins and eventually qualifies for the World Cup, moving the crucial  Nigeria/Angola qualifying encounter to Kano (a city in the hot region of the country),...a move which left our boys, most of who play in Europe, a cooler region, gasping for breath, while their visitors played and felt more at home.

All these we gathered, coupled with the fact that we played a draw against Rwanda after the team had to fly over six hours to Kigali, point to a defecient administration of football by a body led by the chairman.  These and many more, explain why Nigerians are clamouring for the exit of the present chairman, whose tenure expires next week.
