Ojokolo hit the tracks

Nigeria sprinter, Endurance Ojokolo is leaving no stone unturned in her bid to win an individual honors in next year's Athens Olympic games. 

The Europe based sprint queen has commenced training ahead of other top athletes so as to stay in shape for the games whilst stating that early preparation is the ideal mentality in a game of an Olympic magnitude. Nigeriasports.com caught with the All Africa Games gold and silver medallist in both the female 4x100 and 100 metres, at the main bowl of the National stadium, Surulere Lagos and she explained further on her preparation.
Europe

"The weather here is an advantage and I am cashing in on that because it will be cold in Europe at this time and the games starts in the summer, a lot of people will be wondering on my reason for choosing home instead of Europe but they'll soon get to understand this pretty soon" she added.

Early Athens 2004 preparation now

" Although the games is in 9-months time but, preparing ahead is vital because am taking the Olympics seriously, there nothing like winning an individual medal in the biggest sporting event on earth" Ojokolo added.

All Africa games disappointments

"To be honest I had certain goals ahead of the games but sadly my knees were cracked due to the hard tracks in both Europe and Nigeria which affected badly she explained, but winning a silver and a gold isn't too bad but I know Athens will be a different ball game"

Welfare of Athletes
"We need training grants to do a lot of things, like paying of our rents in Europe, bills and getting our medical bills sorted, It's also relevant for those of us who doesn't have a kit sponsor, it will go a long way in preparing us for the bigger events on a bigger stage"
Doping 
"News of doping cheats and their downfalls in the media is a blessing to me cos at the end of the day we Africans are cheated, I have natural telent so why should I spike my systems" she concluded.
