Speaking with our Coresspondent, CHIGOZIE CHUKWULETTA, the new Marketing Services Manager of the Company, Mr. Yinka Akintola, said that his organzation's N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) reward to players in the league, is just a monetary token to encourage the players.

He disclosed that the financial incentive is to further fan the individual's motivating factors, which informed the players' decision to take to playing football.  It is he informed, "our little way of beefing-up better performances and " this is a continuous process, which we hope would bring out the desired knack for goals in our  players."  The Pepsi marketing service man, further disclosed why his organization has decided that sports journalists should be responsible for the nomination of winners of their prize money.

"We have so decided. not just to involve journalists in the selection of winners, but to make sure that, they are the sole judges of the awards.  This is to ensure  that, eventual winners are picked on merit devoid of sentiments.  We trust and count so much on their sense of judgement and by so doing, nominations would be free from any pesdestrian influences such as, being biased.

"We also appreciate the contributions of sportswriters to the sincere growth and development of the game in the country and that, their choices would be free from any sort of influence.  We want to also state again, that this award is a continuous process, a gesture we strongly believe, would justify its cause at the end of the day," Akintola stressed.
