Nigerian Premier League debutants, Nassarawa FC of Lafia, could be said to be riding so high that, they could be counted among the elite brackets of the league so far. But be that as it may, topping the Table at the end of the season, is far from the dreams of the Lafia boys, who are tutored by ex-internationals, Ben Duamlong and Dan 'The Bull' Amokachi.
"No, we do not have that kind of dream now. At least, not in the current season. We could give that a thought, maybe, next season, when would have seen and felt the heat of campaigning in the elite league of the country. Our dream and aspiration for now, is to maintain our place amongst the teams that will be on the Premier League parade next season.
"It is not easy to play in the nation's top-most league...and that is the same thing elsewhere in the world. We are new entrants into the fold and we realize this fact and we do not want to stretch our lucks too far by dreaming big. Like gunning for the league title; though it is not an impossibility, but we want to maintain what we have in hands now and consolidate on it, " the Bull submitted sincerely.
Turning around, the once-upon-a-time dazzling and bullying attacking arrow-head of both the Super Eagles and Everton FC of England, declared: "We may not want anything to do with the Premiership title right now, but we could make do with the FA Cup. We are already in the Quarter stage and we are plotting how to go beyond there.
"It could be a wishful thinking in the eyes and minds of some people, but we are gradually drifting nearer the ultimate marble. Our boys and officials are sufficiently motivated and that, you will agree with me, is an essential ingredient in performance. Our players get as much as One Hundred Thousand Naira (about Eight Hundred US Dollars) and that, I say is good money as a bonus for winning a match...that's what we pay each of our players as bonus."
