Rev. Okotie boosts Ali's Record-seeking mission

Boxer, Bash Ali's unrepentant bid to bash into the Guinness World Records Book, recieved a boost of N1m (One Million Naira) in Lagos yesterday thanks to Reverened Chris Okotie, who remarked that, the money represented his token contribution to the Boxer's noble drive to further elevate the country's image through boxing.

According to Ali, the Reverened Gentleman's gesture has added more spiritual, moral and financial boost to his never-say-burst ego and zeal to reach for the top in his chosen career in sports.  He thanked the Preacherman for harkening to his call and lending him his hand of fellowship in his (Ali's) promise to take Nigerians to the 'Promised Land' "which is the Guinness Book of World Records."

Okotie explaining why he decided to contribute to having Bash Ali attain his set goal in the fight trade, stated:  "If we look at issues in our nation today, we would realize that, in the midst of the chaos and the division that, sports have always provided some kind of consolidation.  It goes beyond ethnic barriers, political affiliations and all those social abberations that have divided our nation.

"I think that in the interest of our nation, we need focussing on that which brings us together, that which creates a cohesion for our nationhood; particularly at this time of the chequered history of our nation.  And so, we are very, very proud to identify with Bash Ali.  Not only because he is a young person, but because he is into that, which we so desire at this point in the history of our nation," the Pastor and head of the HouseHold of God, Lagos delivered.

The Preacherman, who declared that as far as the nation was concerned, he is a biased Judge, took a breather before eloquently reeling on again.  And when he did, his sermon dealt on these: "Our young people need to be empowered and I think that, through sports, we can potentiate them beyond the frontiers of this nation, to such a place where they can become a source of national intergrity and honour for our nation.

"And so, we look forward to this fight hoping that again, it would be an opportunity for Nigeria to intellectualize the Nigerian ideal of those things that, make us what we are to the outside world and the international community so that, they can take us more seriously and to understand that, the time has come for us to take our place in the Committee of nations,"Okotie stated and paused to give room for the clappings and expressive admiration of his eloquence and articulate delivery.

Then he went on again:"Thank God for this opportunity and I think it would be a source of pride to our people and that, this is a place where every Nigerian will find oneness with a fine unity, with a fine cohesion and with a fine identity.  So it is something that I believe that, all Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic or religious or political persuasion, will identify with.  I want to encourage Nigerians across the nation to support this venture because it would bring national pride to us.

"We know that he is capable of doing it because, if George Foreman did it as a Blackman, the ones who are the original Black men like him can also do it.  So, we look forward to that fight.  You have our support; our prayers are with you and anything we can do, we promise to do," the Household of God man, Okotie assured.
