Enyimba was my hell- Ogunsanya

Shooting Stars of Ibadan defender, Seyi Ogunsanya has revealed to nigeriasports.com that he had to ditch Enyimba last season in a bid to save his career when it was obvious they were not ready to release him to any European club that requested his services.

Seyi who started the league with Enyimba last season, later jettisoned the club, choosing to stay idle before joining the Oluyole warlords ahead of the 2005 football season.

“The problem between players and Enyimba is that their demands are too high when players get offers from abroad. You can ask Victor Ezeji of Dolphins and others from Enyimba who left the club.” Ogunsanya told nigeriasports.com.

“When they do not want you to go they make high demands. You can see what Vincent Enyeama went through at the club before he was finally released on loan to nationale.”

“You can only have peace of mind when you leave Enyimba and that is exactly what I did.”

Ogunsanya told nigerasports.com that he signed a league contract with them and not the CAF Champions League because he had spoken with the Chairman, Anyansi Agwu who said he would not be allowed to leave if he signs the CAF forms last season.

“It just happened that at that time I had an offer in Israel but unfortunately their negotiations with Enyimba fell through and that is why I was not released and it was out of that anger I refused to go back to Enyimba”

“All I wanted to do at that time was to leave Enyimba. And even when I was persuaded to sign the CAF forms during the quarter final stage I still stood my grounds and refused.”

“At least every one knows I had a good record with Enyimba and they still like me, but I just wanted to go back home to my family.”

However, Enyimba’s Chairman, Felix Anyansi Agwu expressed surprise at comments made by his former player.

Anyansi Agwu told nigeriasports.com that Ogunsanya was simply using blackmail tactics on the club.

“How can Seyi say a thing like that? In fact I do not believe he said that or maybe out of ignorance.”

Anyansi Agwu told nigeriasports.com that Nigerian Footballers are yet to understand the role contract signing plays in their careers.

“Truth is that he signed a contract with us and wanted to leave midway and we said no he had to honour it. Players like Onyekachi Okonkwo, Obinna Nwaneri and Damien Udeh are also former Enyimba players who left at the end of their contracts so you understand that Seyi either does not know what he is saying or simply wants to blackmail the club.”
