Amodu unrepentant over quitting Sharks

Coach Amodu Shuaibu of Sharks FC, Port-Harcourt, may have retraced his steps back to the Garden City into the folds of the team he has worked hard to re-shape over the years; but nigeriasports.com can reveal now, that the coach's return trip to the team, could be termed; 'a re-visit with no life span'.

''I'm just back here because of my personal relationship with the State Governor, Cheif Peter Odili.  In my reckoning, I have achieved all that is there to achieve in the game as a coach," Amodu told nigeriasports.com in Port-Harcourt.  Then in another breath, he went on to count his achievements, as if he knew what our next question would be.

" I have tasted continental football and it was not just tasting it, but clinking, toasting and drinking from the cup; I have won the national league, won the challenge (FA) cup, handled the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, taken them to win a silver at theMALI 2002 Africa Nations Cup" ... and after a long pause, the former Orlando Pirates FC of South Africa head technical man, continued:  "Tell me what's left for me to do or achieve, and I'll go for it.

" When I was unceremoniously asked out of the Eagles' nest, after nicking the 2002 Korea/Japan FIFA World Cup Finals ticket, some people thought, that was it for me.  But I knew better and to prove that, I took up the challenge of handling Sharks FC of Port-Harcourt, with an inate motive of bringing smiles back on the faces of the team's numerous disciples.

"I have done that...brought them back to the Premier League and led them to the next step to the pinacle of Nigerian football - runners-up of the National Challenge (FA) Cup, barely a season of my arrival in the Garden City.  Right now, we are still a team to reckon with in the current soccer season of the Globacom Premier League.''

Asked if he thinks the government was paying too much attention to Dolphins FC to the detriment of Sharks?  "No, no, you see the Dolphin are playing in the continentals and they deserve every support they can get from the Club owners in this case the Rivers state government, but in a situation whereby the budget for the Sharks has not released until now, begs for answer. To tell you the truth, I have not recieved a dime from the clubs this season contarry to reports in the media that we have settled our differences, What differences are they talking about? Our differences has been money and I have not been paid" shaibu said

Amodu, who is still being sought-after, nigeriasports.com can authoritatively reveal, told us further, that he grudges neither the club, nor the government, but the Sports Commissioner Oyenso, who runs the club like his private business.  He frowned at that, stressing that football should not be run that way...''what he says is final and when he is not there, nothing works...I expect a much more tidier setting than what I am seeing and be keeping-up since my arrival and I think I have done and paid my dues here,'' Amodu nailed home in a voice of finality.
