In their 'no friends, no foes' drives to resucitate boxing and bring boxers back to life in the country, governors of the professional arm of the game, have decided to move their camp and rings to Bayelsa State...and this is authoritative; if what the vice-president of a faction of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, (NBB of C) told nigeriasports.com is no farce.
According to the vice-president of the Nigerian Pugillists' body, ''we are taking our campaigns of better life for our boxers, to Bayelsa State. This move, has been tentatively fixed for August, 2005...as soon as an actual date in August is fixed, you'll sure get to know. But I can tell you now, that an advance party is in the mill and they are expected to visit there any time from now.
''They are to see the Bayelsa State Sports Commissioner, see and inspect the facilities on ground and other relevant logistics preparatory to the August date. We are planning to hold some bouts there to further spread our revival gospel. With this and other plans that we have in the pipeline, the noble of art of self-defence, will not die in our country,''he vowed.
He also hinted nigeriasports.com of the body's plan to hold seminars for boxing trainers and managers. This we were told also, is to brush-up these groups of partners in the game, in the modern trends now obtainable elsewhere, in the world. ''Thereafter, we would move down the west coast of the region and see what we could, to further re-define and re-structure the destiny of the game and its practitioners in the West African sub-region,'' we were briefed.
